The South County communities of Sappington and Concord Village are home to a wide range of attractions. First settled in the early 19th century, the area features excellent modern amenities as well as historic sites, which give visitors insight into the lives of the region’s earliest inhabitants.

The long-established town of Sappington is home to many intriguing historic attractions. Shaded by large cedar trees, Sappington Cemetery is the resting place of several area citizens prominent during the past century. Dr. John Sappington, who came with his wife to central Missouri's "Boone's Lick Country" and settled just west of Arrow Rock in 1819, established the cemetery for his family in 1831. The two-acre cemetery contains 111 headstones and markers. In addition to the Sappington family, two of Missouri's governors are buried in the cemetery: Meredith Miles Marmaduke and Claiborne Fox Jackson. Both were married to daughters of Dr. Sappington.

The Sappington House Museum was built in 1808 and is the oldest known brick house in St. Louis County. A rare example of federal architecture in the Midwest, the house contains authentic furnishings made before 1835. The museum - which honors Dr. Sappington and his contributions to the area - contains a library of Americana, a gift shop and a restaurant.
